What is a request for proposal and How can you grow your business from RFPs?
That face is so familiar to me. When I began working in the procurement sector, I had so many questions. It was a whole new world to me and sometimes new things are intimidating because there are more questions than answers. Today, we will answer a couple of the most frequently asked questions about the RFP Process.
An R-F-Huh?
There are so many acronyms these days and this one is the most commonly used one in the procurement world, but what does it mean and why does it matter?
RFP stands for Request For Proposal. Simply put, it is a request issued by schools, school districts and/or government agencies in search of products and services to meet their needs. It contains information stating the purpose, the need, and the qualifications, among many other things.
But why should it matter to you?
If you offer any type of service or product, an RFP is a great tool to use to grow your business. Not only do you become aware of requests that are relevant to your services/products, but you are also able to put your business out there before companies who may never have known you existed.
It is a great chance to become known to those who need what you have to offer.
What I have found over the years is that there’s so much more to an RFP than a specific opportunity. There is invaluable insight into your market and the potential for powerful business connections. The relationships you build today can be the foundation you build your business on tomorrow. The RFP process holds so much potential!
If you have been hesitant to explore the world of RFPs, be encouraged. You can’t pursue opportunities you know nothing about! Find a reliable source for RFPs. It’s worth exploring. Growth is worth pursuing! This is a great start!
